  Thomas enlisted at Yarmouth with the 112th Battalion; however, transferred to the 165th on 
  March 27, 1916.  He embarked Canada on the SS Metagama at Halifax on March 25, 1917 and 
  disembarked in England at Liverpool on April 4, 1917. He transferred to the Canadian Forestry Corps on 
  May 31, 1917 and landed in France on June 23, 1917 having been taken on strength with the 48 
  Company CFC.
  He served in Canada, England, and France and was discharged from service on demobilization 
  on April 2, 1919.  He was 21 years of age at discharge.
