He enlisted with the 1st Depot Battalion at Halifax on March 22, 1918. He embarked Halifax on April 7, 1918 sailing on the SS Ulua, and disembarked at Liverpool, England on April 18, 1918. He was transferred to the 17th Reserve Battalion at Bramshott Camp and served in England until he returned to Canada on June 26, 1919. He was discharged on demobilization on July 13, 1919. In 1924 Norbert married Marie Therese D’Entremont on June 22, 1924 in Roxbury, Massachusetts. He died on January 27, 1945 in Roxbury, Massachusetts, US.
