William Harris Lent was the son of William Tracy Lent (1840-1911) and Matilda Lent (1837-1915), the
brother of Leleah Lent (1864-1945) Benjamin Harding Lent (1869-1894), Harold Osman Lent (1867-
1867), Sarah Alice Lent (b. 1875) and Rachel L. Lent (b. 1897), the husband of Mary Emma (Butler) Lent
(1874-1943), and the father of Mildred Alice/Alison Lent (1899-1993). Although born in the state of Ohio
in the US, William was living in Tusket, Nova Scotia as early as the age of 8 (1881 Census).
William and Mary were married in 1894. Mary was born in Weymouth Bridge, Digby Co., Nova Scotia.
William served in Canada, England and France with the 3rd Canadian Division Ammunition Column.
Divisional Ammunition Columns were responsible for the delivery of ammunitions to artillery batteries
and other units from ammunition refilling points.
William suffered from and was hospitalised with pneumonia in 1917. He was granted leave to recover
from August 29 to September 11, 1917. He suffered from pain in the lower back after being thrown from
  a horse in November 1917.
He was discharged with demobilization on January 14,
1919. Back in Nova Scotia and returning to civilian
work, he was employed as a hotel manager in
  Yarmouth.
William Harris Lent died of arthritis of the spine in
Tusket, Yarmouth Co., Nova Scotia, with his death
attributed to his WWI military service according to his
