  Louis Joseph Roy was the son of Louis Joseph Roy (1851-1924) and Anne (Woods) Roy (1859-1954) of 
  Yarmouth. His brothers, David William Roy was killed in action on September 25, 1916 and James Henry Roy 
  died of illness related to service on November 25, 1922.  Louis married Hattie McGill (Lewis) Roy on 
  November 4, 1909, in Boston, Massachusetts. 
  Louis Joseph Roy trained in Canada and embarked Halifax for overseas disembarking at Liverpool, England 
  on September 22, 1916. He was transferred to the 3rd Canadian Railway Troops for service in France and 
  arrived in the field on March 11, 1917.  
  On September 3, 1917 he became ill, suffering from Pyrexia 
  (fever) of an undetermined cause, and was hospitalized both in 
  France and England.  The condition, also referred to as ‘trench 
  fever’ continued into 1918, and unable to determine the cause 
  he was returned to Canada and hospitalized in April, 1918. 
  He was still suffering from pain in shoulders and legs and 
  experienced shortness of breath. 
  On September 4, 1918 he was discharged from service.
  Louis Joseph Roy died on September 25, 1925 of an embolism, 
  his death attributed to service.
