Private Vernon Robert Weatherbee was the son of William Scott Muir and Florence Irvine (Totton)
Weatherbee and the husband of Luella (Hennigar) Weatherbee of Shubenacadie, Nova Scotia. He was the
father of two sons, Stanley and Gene.
He enlisted during the Second World War and was discharged in December 1946. He joined the
Princess Patricia Light Infantry in August 1950. He was posted to Japan in June 1951 for additional
training, and went into action in Korea in September. He was killed in action on October 13, 1951 during
the the Chinese Shelling of 2 PPCLI.
