The Wartime Heritage Association has partnered with the Royal British Legion in commemorating the 65th Anniversary of D-Day. The men and women involved in that momentous day of June 6, 1944 will be remembered at events across Normandy in France by Veterans, dignitaries and the public.
The tribute to the heroes of D-Day by the Royal British Legion will include the planting of thousands of D-Day flags at Asnelles, in Normandy, with personal messages inscribed.
Although the flags only allow for a short message, the flag by Wartime Heritage reads, “To the Veterans of June 6 and WWII, we will always remember”.
Review an interactive step-by-step look at some of the most significant stages of D-Day, from where troops landed in France to the objectives of the American, British and Canadian troops, and where the Germans were lying in wait to make their counter attacks by visiting the D-Day Interactive by the Discovery Channel.
